Matthew 24: 37 – 39 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Can you imagine what it was like to be living in the days of Noah? I can!
The Word of God further describes why it was that God brought judgment on that generation.
“And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.”
To God be the glory, for he provided an ark that was suitable for Noah and his family, along with clean and unclean animals in measure, to be preserved in the midst of the storm. And as there would have been the mockers, blasphemers, and wicked workers of all abominations before the Flood, so too do we find today those people that despise and mock the law of God to the point of drinking the wrath of God that will one day be poured out on the wicked. They despise all that is good, and clean, and pure, even though they have been given the benefit of hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Their eyes are full of darkness, and they love to live amongst devils.
Here’s what Jesus said about hell:
Matthew 10:28 “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”
Revelation 21:8 “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
For those people who have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ, and are reconciled to God the Father, they find great refuge in the Ark, which is Christ Jesus. He is our propitiation, and we can find great comfort in knowing that as children of God, we are not appointed to His wrath. One day we will be with the Lord Jesus Christ “forever.” But for those that have rejected Christ Jesus, they have blasphemed the Holy Spirit and will suffer an eternity apart from Almighty God. And why should that judgement be any different? The world has declared that they do not want anything to do with God and His Law. God will simply give them what they are asking for in unbelief. But how sad it is that their eyes have been blinded by the devil (II Cor. 4).
I John 1:5 “…God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”
To God be the glory!
